Cleaning Kettles

Its a fact of life that a kettle will get furred up with limescale over time. This is the case whether you live in a hard water or soft water area (check our map to see where you are). Limescale is caused by alkaline deposits from the water settling in the kettle over time. The best way to get rid of an alkaline is to use a mild acid which is why many people recommend using vinegar, lemon and various other mild acids to clean kettles.

If you don’t keep a kettle free of limescale it not only affects the taste of drinks but can eventually burn out the heating element.

Here’s a short video giving instructions on cleaning your electric kettle.
