Whatever you do don’t use any kind of scrubbing implement on a stainless steel kettle as it will ruin the finish completely. There’s different cleaning methods for the inside and outside with the inside being common with most other kettles.
Cleaning Outside a Stainless Steel Kettle
To remove grease marks from the outside of the kettle there’s a number of methods that have proven successful:
- Soda crystals – pobably the most effective way to clean to a mirror finish
- Lemon juice – not quite as useful and some people say it can corrode the steel after a year or so.
- Baby oil – althoguh it’s an oil it acts as a solvent too and can help to strip off greasy marks
Cleaning Inside a Stainless Steel Kettle
Cleaning the inside is much like any other kettle an can be one of the following:
- White vinegar – using malt vinegar can cause a permanent taint to any drinks.
- Soda crystals – tjhis helps in dissolving limescale but not quite as effective as vinegar.
